CertiPur – Our Products Meet the Standard
CertiPur is a voluntary certification programme for the polyurethane foam used in bedding and upholstered furniture applications. All relevant Kaymed products are submitted to the programme and meet its high standards – but what does this programme entail and what does it tell us? We take a closer look in this post.
In Focus: CertiPur
During the CertiPur programme, testing is carried out on the polyurethane foam used in bedding and upholstered furniture applications to analyse its environmental, health and safety properties. The process is designed to identify if the material contains any prohibited substances.
Materials that conform to the stringent CertiPur testing, including all Kaymed foam and polyester, are certified to be:
- Made without heavy metals including mercury, lead or cadmium
- Made without dyes that are carcinogenic or allergenic as described by EU legislation
- Made without Phthalate plasticisers
- Made without substances that cause cancer or may cause heritable generic damage
- Emitting low levels of VOC’s (volatile organic compounds)
Kaymed Quality Control
At Kaymed, we own our own plant in Dublin, Ireland. At this manufacturing facility, we produce all the foams and polyesters used in our mattresses. By carrying out this process in house, we are able to ensure that our extremely high standards of quality control are maintained at all times, and that all finished products meet CertiPur standards.
NBF Member
In addition to submitting to CertiPur testing and continually meeting its standards, we are approved members of the National Bed Federation (NBF). The NBF is the regulating body of the bed industry, which sets the standards for safety and hygiene.
Whether a Kaymed product or not, we strongly recommend that you only buy from an NBF approved member. Failure to do so may result in you procuring a substandard and potentially dangerous product.
So remember: always look out for the NBF logo.
