Key Considerations When Buying a Mattress
Everyone has different preferences when it comes to mattresses. However, one thing that we all tend to share in common is that we spend a lot of time in bed – around a third of our lifetimes on average. With so much time whiled away in bed, therefore, it is extremely important to sleep on something that is suited to our needs. In this post, we take a look at some key considerations to make when buying a mattress.
Hard, Medium or Soft?
Is a hard, medium or soft mattress best? The short answer to this much vexed question is that the best mattress is a supportive one. This is a factor that changes from person to person: for instance, the same bed may not offer the same support to someone who weighs 18 stones as it would to someone who weighs 10 stones.

Back, Front or Side Sleeper?
Whichever position you prefer to sleep in, your mattress must facilitate the correct alignment of your spine while you’re in bed. For back and front sleepers, a firm-to-neutral mattress can be beneficial. A side sleeper, meanwhile, may benefit from a slightly softer mattress. However, the best way to identify your perfect mattress is to by trying out a range of beds in-store.
What About Your Partner?
If a bed is regularly being used by more than one person, then all parties concerned should help to make a final decision on a mattress. In some instances, partners will have the same, or at least similar, requirements. However, it is also common for partners to have widely disparate needs (such as those whose weights differ by 3 stones or more). In such cases, two separate mattresses may be required.
