Overheating In Bed At Night

Overheating In Bed At Night Have You Got The Correct Mattress

Ideal Sleeping Temperature

Overheating In Bed At NightSleep studies have identified that the ideal range for good sleep is estimated between 60-72 degrees, though it is important to remember that we are all individual and this will vary from person to person.

If your bed is too hot at night:

  • 100% cotton sheets are an excellent choice for hot summer nights, as they excellent breathable and moisture wicking characteristics
  • Try using lightweight covers on your bed which preferably will be made of natural, breathable fibers (as opposed to polyester and other synthetic fibres which can trap heat).
  • Choose a mattress type known to sleep cooler such as Kaymed K3Gel

Mattress Temperature Characteristics

Innerspring or Coil Mattresses: The percentage of Coil Mattress owners reporting sleeping hot is typically low. Certain types of coil mattresses are more likely to sleep hotter, specifically those with thick comfort layers and those with thicker memory foam layers

Memory Foam Type Mattresses: There are many different brands and types of memory foam and the performance characteristics vary significantly. Lower specification memory foam beds possibly perform less well in heat issues compared to springs and other non-foam mattress types.
Gel infused foam: such as Kaymed K3 Gel feels cooler initially, and these mattresses tend to perform better in providing temperature control.

Latex mattresses : Beds with natural latex have the potential to sleep cooler. Beds with synthetic latex sometimes feel warmer, while those with thicker layers of regular foam on top of the latex can sleep the warmest. It is thought that foams with pin holes within there constructiont could perform better from a breathability characteristic, such as beds with breathable covers made of cotton or wool.

Waterbed Mattresses: Water adapts to room temperature and absorbs body heat so typically waterbed mattress owners have fewer problems about sleeping too hot. A more common issue with waterbeds is that they feel too cold.
