The Kaymed Mattress Size Guide

Having a mattress of the right size is hugely important, both for you and anyone you share a bed with. But with so many size options available it can get a little confusing at times, so we aim to simplify matters with our straightforward mattress size guide – please read on for more information.

Which Mattress Size Is Right for You?

First let’s consider how to choose a mattress that meets your dimensional requirements:

Length – ideally, your mattress should be at least 10 centimetres (four inches in old money) longer than the height of the tallest user.

Width – you should be able to put your hands under your head with elbows pointing outward without touching anything, whether it be the edge of the bed, person sleeping next to you or an object beside the bed.

Mattress Size Guide

Toddler (70cm x 140cm)

A starter mattress perfect for young sleepers.

3 Foot Single (90cm x 190cm)

This is the standard single in the UK.

3 Foot European Single (90cm x 200cm)

The European singe is a little longer than a standard single, ideal for those of a taller disposition.

4 Foot Small Double (120cm x 190cm)

This provides just enough room for two adults, a great foil for a guest room or a double bedroom that is on the small side.

4 Foot 6 Inch Double (135cm x 190cm)

This is the standard double mattress size, perfect for most couples.

5 Foot King (150cm x 200cm)

Wider and longer than a standard double mattress, this king can provide a little more room to manoeuvre. It’s also perfect for taller couples.

6 Foot Super King (180cm x 200cm)

An entire foot wider than a king size – if you’re a couple who like space and have a room large enough to accommodate this penchant, this is the bed for you.
