Mattress Buying Guide – Time for a Change?

Mattresses can be expensive so you don’t want to buy a new one unless you have to. Common tell-tale signs that you should look out for when deciding whether you do need a new mattress include:

  • Visible signs of wear and tear in your current mattress, such as rips in the covers or broken springs
  • Often waking up in the morning feeling in pain or stiff
  • You find your current mattress uncomfortable

If these problems sound familiar to you then it’s probably about time you got a new mattress.

Mattress Buying Guide – Reputable Mattress Manufacturers

The best and easiest way to identify a trustworthy mattress manufacturer is to find out whether they are members of the National Bed Federation (NBF). You can do this by checking for the NBF logo on the manufacturer’s website or by checking the member directory on the NBF website. To become a member of the NBF, a manufacturer must stick to certain codes of quality. So if they are an affiliated manufacturer you can be sure of the quality and safety of their products.

Mattress Buying Guide – In Store

Whenever buying a new mattress is it very important to try it out before buying. To test the comfort of a mattress you should lie on it your usual sleeping position for at least 15 minutes.

While you’re at the showroom, it is also a good idea to make use of the expert knowledge you have at hand. If you have any special sleeping needs mention them to a shop assistant. They should be able to point you in the direction of a bed that can help.
