Difficult Sleeping

Let’s start with the obvious one: difficulty in sleeping.

People who experience insomnia often have trouble getting to sleep. They may also have trouble staying asleep once they have finally nodded off, as well wake up too early in the morning and be unable to fall back to sleep once they are awake.

Fatigue and Low Energy

Another common symptom of insomnia is fatigue and listlessness during the day. You may wake up feeling unrested and lacking energy. Not all people who experience insomnia remember waking up during the night, so these tell tale signs are very important in indicating a lack of sleep.

Moodiness

Insomnia is often marked by general moodiness that is difficult to shift and cannot be explained by external factors. Lack of sleep can also induce anxiety, irritability, impulsiveness and aggression. In general, emotions are harder to control.

Relationship Troubles and Problems at Work

It may be with a partner, cohabitant or colleague; a family member, classmate or boss, but people with insomnia often find themselves at loggerheads with those close to them. They may also struggle to focus on work, something which may manifest as regularly committing errors, missed deadlines or a difficultly keeping up with workload.

Causes

Insomnia can be caused by any number of factors, including underlying medical issues. For this is reason, if you think you are suffering from insomnia, you should seek advice from a trained medical professional immediately.

You should also ensure that you are sleeping on a bad that’s right for you. Sleeping on an unsuitable bed, such as one that’s too small or old, is a common cause of disrupted and low quality sleep.
