The size of the big bed you choose depends on the following criteria

Your size and height
How much sleeping space you need to be comfortable (both when you are in your sleeping position or when you are relaxing in bed)
Whether you plan to share your bed in which case how much additional room do you need to be comfortable
How much available space you have in your bedroom. Remember its not just about fitting the bed in you need to have room around the bed to move.

Big Bed Sizes

The traditional double bed is the size considered by the majority of people , but if you have looking for more space why not consider a king size or bigger still, a super king, both of which are wider and longer than a traditional double. The additional space provided can offer a couple more room generally during the night, and can potentially avoid one sleeper disturbing the other through continuous mattress movement.

Choose Your Big Bed Wisely

If you’re keeping an old mattress and simply buying a divan or frame to go with it, the size of the mattress will determine the size of the frame you need to go for. If you are looking to change your mattress as well then choose wisely.

Your big bed is an important investment. Bed manufacturers have identified that every £200 you spend on a bed represents just 5.4p a night based on having that bed for a 10 year period.
Based on normal / regular usage the average lifespan of a bed or at least the mattress, is approximately 8-10 years. Potentially after regular use a mattress may have deteriorated by as much as 75% from its original condition.
Consider the space you need at night. While you may plump for a standard double bed, a W150 x L200cm kingsize bed gives more than 0.435 sqm of surface area. Giving you room to relax and stretch out during sleep.
As with many purchases when you are looking to buy a big bed it’s worth spending as much as you can afford to get a really good mattress.
