Mattress Manufacturers and the National Bed Federation (NBF)
The laws on bed safety regulations are very well established and help to protect the consumer from unsafe (dangerous), unhygienic, or non fire retardant materials. Kaymed are members of the National Bed Federation (NBF) and strongly recommend that you only buy products manufactured by an NBF member; even if your final choice is not a Kaymed product. You can find out which mattress manufacturers are members of the NBF by looking out for the NBF logo on their products. Or for more information visit the website (http://www.bedfed.org.uk/members/) to clarify that the mattress manufacturers ares a member before you buy.
Only buy from a reputable retailer
In the past there has been a great deal of media coverage on the perils and dangers of buying a bed from a man with a van that turns up at your home or place of work. Kaymed do not recommend buying in such circumstances as in all likelihood the product is likely to be sub standard and potentially dangerous. There are many advantages from buying your bed from the numerous reputable high street or well established retailers. To find your nearest bed stockist click here . The reputable retailer will be able to help you with the bed selection and advise on the wide range of bed types and sizes that are available. Would you suit a mattress with temperature controlling properties, perhaps you need a mattress that would help with pressure relief. Your local bed stockist should have been trained on all mattress manufacturers and be able to offer advice and guidance
Check dimensions
Bed sizes are not standardised and even if they have the same name i.e. King size, they may not be the same size. It is advisable to check that the base and the mattress are from the same manufacturer as they need to be compatible. The bed and mattress are designed to work together and a change of base will affect the feel and performance of the mattress and could invalidate the warranty.
